Polypropylene sheet
Polypropylene (PP) is a light, tough plastic with excellent resistance to most acids, alkalis and solvents. As solid sheet it is used for chemical-resistant linings, tanks and trays, bins and dividers, machine guards, food-preparation surfaces and anything that needs to flex without cracking.
Plastics Hub NZ supplies the sheet. Need a sheet cut down? Cutting is available on certain materials at certain depots. Request a quote with your sizes and we'll confirm.

Chemical resistance
PP shrugs off most acids, alkalis and cleaning chemicals, which is why it lines tanks, bunds and plating and laboratory benches. Check a chemical resistance chart for your exact chemical and temperature before you choose it.
Light and tough
PP is one of the lightest plastics and resists fatigue, so thin sections can flex over and over. That is what makes a living hinge on a box lid or folder last.
Food contact
Natural and white grades are widely used around food. For food contact, ask us to confirm the grade for your application before you order.
Joining
Ordinary glues and tapes do not grip polypropylene. PP is plastic welded with hot air or extrusion welding, or joined mechanically with fasteners.
Polypropylene and corflute
Corflute is polypropylene too, made as a fluted twin-wall sheet. Choose corflute for light signs and packaging, and solid PP sheet for anything structural or chemical-resistant.
Questions
- PP or HDPE sheet?
- Both resist chemicals and water. PP is stiffer, handles higher temperatures and makes better living hinges; HDPE is tougher in the cold and kinder to knife edges, which is why it is used for cutting boards.
- How do I cut polypropylene sheet?
- Thin sheet cuts with a utility knife or shears. Thicker sheet cuts with a fine-tooth saw or a router at a steady feed so the edge does not melt.
