PTFE sheet
PTFE sheet is the plastic for the hardest chemical and temperature duty. Almost nothing sticks to it and almost nothing attacks it, which is why it is cut into gaskets, slide pads and linings.
Plastics Hub NZ supplies PTFE sheet from thin sheet to thick plate, in virgin and filled grades. Tell us the thickness, sheet size, grade and quantity, and we'll come back with a quote.

Request a quoteWhat is PTFE sheet?
PTFE is polytetrafluoroethylene, best known under the brand name Teflon. Virgin PTFE is a soft, waxy white material. Filled grades add glass, carbon or bronze to improve wear and reduce creep.
PTFE cannot be melted and moulded like most plastics, so sheet and rod are made by compression moulding or ram extrusion.
Key properties
Lowest friction
PTFE has one of the lowest coefficients of friction of any solid, which suits slide bearings and non-stick surfaces.
Chemical resistance
It resists almost all chemicals and solvents.
Wide temperature range
PTFE keeps working from very low to high temperatures, well beyond most plastics. Confirm the grade with us for a stated temperature rating.
Soft and prone to creep
Virgin PTFE is soft and slowly deforms under load. Filled grades reduce this.
Electrical insulation
It is an excellent electrical insulator.
Typical uses
- Seals, gaskets and washers
Chemical and high-temperature sealing.
- Slide and bridge bearings
Low-friction sliding pads.
- Non-stick surfaces
Where product must not stick.
Forms, thicknesses and sheet sizes
What PTFE sheet commonly comes in. What we can source for you is confirmed on your quote.
- Forms
- Flat sheet and solid round rod.
- Sheet
- From thin sheet of about 1mm up to thick plate of 50mm or more, commonly in sheets around 1200 x 1200mm.
- Grades
- Virgin white PTFE, plus glass, carbon and bronze filled grades.
How it compares
PTFE beats acetal and nylon on friction, chemicals and heat, but it is softer, more expensive and slowly creeps under load. For low-friction parts that must hold their shape at normal temperatures, acetal is usually the practical choice.
How to order
- Send us an enquiry through the quote form or email trade@plasticshub.co.nz.
- Tell us the sheet thickness and size, virgin or filled grade, and quantity, and the town or city it is going to.
- We'll come back with a quote, including delivery.
Need it cut? Cutting is available on certain materials at certain depots. Request a quote with your sizes and we'll confirm.
PTFE sheet questions
- Is PTFE the same as Teflon?
- Teflon is a brand name for PTFE. We supply PTFE sheet and rod; if your job names a particular brand or grade, tell us when you ask for a quote.
- Is PTFE food safe?
- Food-contact grades of PTFE are made. Confirm the grade with us if your job needs one.
- Can you cut PTFE to size?
- Cutting is available on certain materials at certain depots. Request a quote with your sizes and we'll confirm.
