Acrylic sheet for signs
Acrylic gives a sign a glossy, glass-like finish that looks premium on a reception wall, a shopfront or a lightbox. It comes clear, opal (diffusing white) and in solid colours, and clear sheet is often printed or painted on the back so the graphic sits behind a glossy face.
Plastics Hub NZ supplies blank sheet to sign makers, printers and makers. We do not print, laser, engrave or install signs. Need a sheet cut down? Cutting is available on certain materials at certain depots. Request a quote with your sizes and we'll confirm.

Clear for a glass look
Clear acrylic is reverse-printed or back-painted for a deep, glossy panel, and is the usual face for standoff-mounted reception and office signs.
Opal for lightboxes
Opal acrylic spreads the light from LEDs behind it evenly, so it is the standard face for lightboxes and illuminated signs. Ask your sign maker which light transmission suits their light source.
Colours for letters and plaques
Solid-colour sheet is used for cut letters, logos and plaques. The colour runs through the sheet, so cut edges match the face.
Thickness
Thinner sheet suits lightbox faces and small panels; thicker sheet stands off a wall without flexing and gives letters and plaques more presence.
Mounting
Standoffs need holes drilled with bits made for plastics, kept back from the edge. On the outside, allow for the sheet's movement with heat.

Questions
- Is acrylic good for outdoor signs?
- Yes. Acrylic weathers well and stays clear outdoors for many years. Allow for its movement with heat when fixing, and keep it away from impact if the sign is at street level, where polycarbonate or ACM may suit better.
- Do you make acrylic signs?
- No. Plastics Hub NZ supplies blank sheet only. A sign maker prints, cuts and installs the finished sign.
